In March of 2014, we were approached by a friend and mentor in Whole Foods Market who said, “You know what would be really cool, a super-clean and simple almondmilk.” This got us thinking, why doesn’t that exist as an affordable and widely distributed product? There are lots of delicious raw almondmilks that seem to be popping up all around the country. For example, check out this, and this, and this. While these types of almondmilks are crazily delicious and very high-quality, they are only available in limited areas and often sell out quickly. In areas with more limited retail options, it can be nearly impossible to find an organic and simple almondmilk.
And of course, you can also make almondmilk at home, but in our experience it is actually pretty expensive and can be a bit time consuming and messy. Not to mention you quickly end up with an insane amount of almond waste, which doesn’t feel right.
So, we set out on a path to figure out how to bring the taste and simplicity of homemade almondmilk to the masses. It has been quite a bit of work, but we are very proud to have something that we enjoy eating and sharing with others.
In the coming weeks we will be sharing more of our story. Why we’re doing all of this, how we make our almondmilk, etc. For now, we’re just proud to be finally ready to invite everyone into the New Barn. Enjoy!
